Financial & Insurance Policy

We, the staff of Somerset Periodontics & Dental Implants, thank you for choosing us as your dental provider. We believe your understanding of our financial policy is vital to the provider-patient relationship, and our goal is to keep communication open at all times.

Payment is due at the time of service unless a prior payment arrangement has been approved by our office. If you do not have insurance or your plan does not honor an assignment of benefits, full payment is expected at the time of service.

Payment Methods

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and personal checks. A $35.00 service fee will be charged for all returned checks. We also offer the convenience of keeping a credit card securely on file with your authorization.

Dental Insurance

Please remember that your insurance policy is a contract between you and your insurance carrier. As a courtesy, we will bill your insurance and help you receive the maximum allowable benefit under your plan. However, we ask that patients remain engaged in their claims process, as patients who communicate with their carrier tend to receive faster and more accurate payment.

It is your responsibility to provide current insurance eligibility, ID, authorization, and referral information, and to notify our office of any changes. Even a preauthorization does not guarantee payment. We are required by contract to collect copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles as outlined by your carrier.

Out-of-Network Coverage

Out-of-network carriers may limit benefits through reductions such as "reasonable and customary" or "usual and prevailing" limits. Our fees fall within standard ranges. While we will assist in filing appeals if such limitations are imposed, you as the guarantor remain responsible for all out-of-network fees. We do not negotiate reduced fees with carriers with whom we are not contracted.

Cancellation & Missed Appointment Policy

Our goal is to provide the best quality periodontal care in a timely manner. To do so effectively, we have implemented the following cancellation and no-show policy. This allows us to better serve patients in urgent need of care.

We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer the time to another patient in need.

How to Cancel or Reschedule

Please call our office at (908) 218-0770. If you reach voicemail, leave a detailed message including your name, appointment date, and best callback number. You may also email us at smile@snjperio.com.

No-Show Policy

A "no-show" is defined as missing a scheduled appointment without providing at least 24 hours' notice. A no-show fee of $75 will be assessed. Patients with three or more no-shows may be asked to transition care to another provider.

Late Cancellations

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time will be assessed a fee of $50, except in extraordinary circumstances at the discretion of our office.

Frequently asked
questions.

No referral is required — you are welcome to contact our office directly. That said, many patients are referred by their general dentist, and we work closely with referring offices to coordinate care.
Your first visit is a comprehensive consultation. Dr. Kim will review your medical and dental history, perform a thorough periodontal exam, take any necessary X-rays or 3D imaging, and discuss his findings with you. You'll receive a personalized treatment plan with clear options and costs — no pressure, just information.
Plan for approximately 60–90 minutes for your initial consultation.
Many PPO dental insurance plans cover periodontal treatments such as scaling and root planing and periodontal maintenance. Coverage for surgical procedures and dental implants varies by plan. Our team will verify your benefits before treatment.
Yes — free parking is available directly in front of our building at 575 Route 28, Building #1, Suite 105A, Raritan, NJ 08869. The office is easily accessible from Routes 22, 28, and I-287.
We understand that dental anxiety is very common. Dr. Kim and our entire team are trained to create a calm, supportive environment. We take time to explain every step, never rush, and can discuss sedation options if needed. Please let us know about any anxiety when you call.
